Water levels are currently well below average on Lake of the Woods and slightly below average on Lac Seul for August.
Lake of the Woods water level has decreased by two centimetres in the past week and is expected to remain around this level, but there is potential for it to decrease slightly further.
Inflows into the lake have temporarily increased due to recent rain, but the flow is expected to continue to decline over the next week.
As a result, the control board is reducing the outflow from the lake on Tuesday.
The change will cause water levels on the Winnipeg River to decrease by five centimetres below the Norman Dam and two centimetres at the Dalles.
The outflow reduction will not impact Minaki.
Meanwhile, Lac Seul’s water levels have increased by five centimetres over the last week.
The lake is expected to rise another five to nine centimetres this week, depending on the amount of rain that falls.
No outflow adjustments are being made on the lake.
