Councillor Kirsi Ralko
A group of Councillors from across the northwest region have come together to call on Senator Lynn Beyak, who hails from Dryden, to resign her seat.
Kenora City Council member Kirsi Ralko is among the seven municipal representatives calling for Beyak’s seat to be vacated, and says that the message they’re sending couldn’t be any more clear.
“The message from our group is that we expect more from our leadership,” says Ralko, “…as said in the state, we do not support the views espoused by Senator Beyak, and we expect our leaders to work to unite Canadians rather than divide them.”
She tells us that as an elected official, it was important for her to be a part of the group.
“It’s important to use my democratically-elected position to hold other leaders accountable. In this case, it was important because Senators Beyak in a way represents the region.”
Ralko adds that the group was put together by Fort Frances Town Council member Doug Judson, who spearheaded the effort.
