Kenora wildfires: Wabaseemoong fully evacuated
Wabaseemoong Independent Nation has been fully evacuated, with only emergency personnel remaining as fire crews continue suppression efforts against Kenora Fire 20 and Kenora Fire 14.
Kenora Fire 20 is the largest wildfire in the area that has spread across 27,647 hectares, burning 2.5 kilometres west of Wabaseemoong. Cooler weather has helped slow fire activity, allowing firefighters to reinforce protection efforts.
Kenora Fire 14 remains around 1,617 hectares, burning near Whitedog, with 11 FireRanger crews engaged in suppression.
Three additional fires were confirmed Thursday evening:
- Kenora Fire 27 is 0.3 hectares in size and is northeast of the Highway 17 and Highway 71 junction near Joyce Lake. Being held.
- Kenora Fire 28 is 1.0 hectare in size and is north of Separation Lake and northwest of Lennan Lake. Not under control.
- Kenora Fire 29 is 0.1 hectare in size and is near the Highway 17 and Highway 71 junction, south of Russ Lake. Not under control.

Fort Frances wildfire: Rain slows spread, crews focus on containment
Fort Frances Fire 4 has expanded to over 3,500 hectares, burning north of Crystal Lake.
Officials say recent rainfall has reduced fire activity, allowing teams to shift focus to containment strategies.
Suppression efforts are concentrated on the fire’s south end, while structure protection remains a priority in the north.
Additional personnel and aircraft are expected to arrive to support ongoing operations.
Travel restrictions limit access to certain roads and waterways near the fire zone.
An evacuation alert remains in place for residents to be prepared for possible evacuation orders.
Sioux Lookout wildfire: Stable conditions, crews reinforce protection
The Sioux Lookout Fire 3 is measuring at 1,800 hectares, with crews reinforcing containment lines and protecting structures.
The fire is burning north of Savant Lake, and officials say conditions remain stable.
While the fire has not expanded significantly, travel restrictions remain in place to ensure public safety.
Access to several highways, lakes, and Crown lands remains prohibited as crews work to contain the fire.
Wildfire crews remain deployed across Northwestern Ontario as suppression efforts continue.
Evacuation alerts, highway closures, and travel restrictions remain in effect in multiple districts.
