Lake of the Woods Control Board says it won’t be adjusting outflows from the Norman Dam into the Winnipeg River this week.
That’s mostly due to the wildfires burning in the area of the Winnipeg River in northwestern Ontario and Manitoba.
The Control Board says forest fires have developed near several hydropower dams resulting in the evacuation of those facilities.
The Caribou Falls dam operated by Ontario Power Generation can be controlled remotely, but Manitoba Hydro says at the dams at Pointe Du Bois and Slave Falls, the generating units have been shut down and the water is passing through the spillways.
Despite hot weather this week, the lake did increase by almost 7 centimeters and is expected to go up 2 to 7 centimeters over the next seven days.
