
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is the latest local organization to put in place a Canadian Business First procurement policy.
Effective immediately, the KPDSB ways it will prioritize purchasing from Canadian suppliers whenever possible.
It adds that it will limit buying goods and services from businesses in the United States.
It says trustees supported the decision at their open meeting this week.
The public-school board says they want to support the long-term sustainability of their communities.
“The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is proud to support prioritizing Canadian businesses,” said Christy Radbourne, Director of Education.
“By prioritizing spending within Canada, we are supporting economic stability and the long-term sustainability of our communities. We believe this approach aligns with our values and responsibilities as a public institution.”
Recently the City of Dryden also talked about implementing a Canadian Business First procurement policy.
