
Kenora Islanders 5 at Fort Frances Lakers 6 (SO)
The Fort Frances Lakers picked up their first win of the season by scoring a 6-5 decision in an eleven-round over the Kenora Islanders at the Ice for Kids Arena in Fort France Friday.
The Lakers rallied from a two-goal deficit late in the third period to force overtime where nothing would be decided.
Ian Snooks would get the eventual winner in the shootout.
The win ended the Lakers’ eight-game winless streak from the start of the season.
Cobe Delaney scored twice for the Lakers in regulation time.
Noah McPherson, Jack Wood and Ryker Watt added the others.
Aaron Bertschinger and Brayden Mackay each had a pair of goals for Kenora, with John Paul Scaringi scoring the other.

In Thunder Bay, Beau Helmeczi scored two third period goals to give the North Stars a 3-2 win over the Sioux Lookout Bombers.
It is the Bombers’ first regulation loss.
Edison Weeks scored the other goal for Thunder Bay.
Connor Burke scored both goals for Sioux Lookout.
