After a successful return after a two year Covid hiatus organizers say Thunder Bay’s FANtastic geek convention will be thundering itself back to the CLE this September.
“The organization is in a great position,” outgoing chair, Kevin Taylor, said of last year’s success. “It’s gratifying to see the energy and interest from the membership to continue to produce a unique pop-culture event. I have every confidence that ThunderCon 2023 will bring the best of the past and introduce new and exciting programming.”
Last year saw more than 2000 fans come out to meet some hometown and visiting talent to show off the “geek core of the north”.
Over the winter season, Thundercon’s board saw some changes and longtime board secretary, Linda Fogen-Madsen, was voted in to lead the team into the new year.
“We’re excited and looking forward to our event being held a bit earlier on 9-10 Sept,” says Fogen-Madsen, “Keep an eye out for our first guest announcement coming soon, especially if you like comic books! ”
While anticipation builds for upcoming guest announcements, ThunderCon also looking for interested community members to join their team to help grow the only convention of its kind in Northwestern Ontario.
