Even though the Fish came up short of a playoff spot in 2021, the season ended on a high note.
First baseman Kyle Martin was named Tuesday to the American Association’s Postseason All-Star team for the second year in a row.
The 28-year-old finished the year with 31 home runs, 106 RBI and a batting average of .280.
The 31 home runs are a Goldeyes team record, while the 106 RBI set a new American Association single-season record.
The Keller, Texas product has now played three seasons with the Fish. Over those 241 games, he has 61 home runs, 224 RBI and an average of .284.
Before making the switch to independent baseball, Martin was drafted twice (LA Angels, 2014 and Phillies, 2015) and spent four seasons in the Philadelphia farm system.
His next stop is on the other side of the world as he’s set to play for the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League during the winter months.
