It wasn’t until after midnight before final results were released, declaring Roy Avis as mayor in Fort Frances.
Councillors Andrew Hallikas was 300 votes back in second with Dan Onichuk well back in third.
Four incumbent councillors were also return with two women, June Caul and Wendy Brunetta topping the polls.
In other district races, Atikokan’s long-time mayor Dennis Brown easily defended his seat for another term.
