Local residents were able to see a total eclipse of the moon Sunday night.
It was called the Super Wolf Blood Moon and took place late Sunday night for about an hour.
According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the Sun, Earth, and Moon aligned causing a total lunar eclipse, and turning the moon a red color.
It’s also a super moon, as the moon will be in its closest point to Earth in its orbit, appearing much larger than usual.
The term “Wolf moon” derives from Native Americans for the full moon in January.
The lunar eclipse was visible from North and South America, as well as parts of Europe and Asia.
